Global Health Residency Program

Location: St. Kitts and Nevis, West Indies

Join Texas Southern University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, in collaboration with Hart Global Management Group, in St. Kitts and Nevis, May 31, 2019 – June 15, 2019. This Global Health Residency Program navigates through international health organizations and their roles in promoting global health policies and organizing healthcare services. We will implement and evaluate global health programs to maximize contributions to effective policy, enhanced practice, and improved and sustainable health outcomes. We work effectively within diverse cultural settings and across national and international political landscapes. Use a systems approach to health services management, including strategic planning, budgets, and resource allocation.

St. Kitts and Nevis Itinerary

Module One
o   The relationship between quality and population health.
o   A Framework for understanding and thinking about healthcare quality.
o   Approaches to quality measurement.
o   The role of information and communication technology in assessing and improving quality.
o   Tools and contextual knowledge to improve the quality delivered in health systems.

Module Two
o   How to frame a global health problem?
o   How to use a toolkit of analytical approaches to examine global health initiatives to identify and implement effective interventions.
o   How to evaluate the ethical frameworks that have underpinned engagement within global health.

Module Three
o   Distinguish successful innovations from those likely to fail.
o   Determine if an innovation is aligned with its environment.
o   Understand the elements that make up a viable competitive strategy for healthcare business.
